Necklace

This is the necklace I was daydreaming about a little while ago and just finished making.

I used leather cord, oxidized copper wire, a couple pieces of coral, a stone from Lake Michigan, pieces of seashells, one raw citrine nugget, and a couple of pieces of fossilized coral from Lake Michigan called Petoskey stones. Petoskey stones are bits of a coral reef that existed 350 million years ago, during the Devonian period. At least that's what Wikipedia says.

I really like the work of modartifax on Etsy, who calls many of her pieces "urban nomadic talismans." While my necklace doesn't come anywhere close to her work, she inspired me.

I had one bad moment with the drill when I was making the hole a little larger in the chunk of citrine, but we just won't talk about it. Mostly I feel peaceful when doing this kind of work.
