Kimono woman

I wrote about the artwork in my bathroom yesterday, so today I'll follow up with the Japanese hanging scroll that's in the bedroom. It shows a woman in a kimono with a kitten playing at her feet.  It's one bad kitten, too, since it's pulling the silky kimono right off the woman's shoulder.

It probably looks familiar — I used a close-up of the woman's face and shoulder for the BARE BLOG banner.

I don't know much about the scroll — I bought it used on eBay, and it was very reasonable because it has water damage down the right side. But the water stain doesn't interfere with the image of the woman or the cat — very fortunate!  I doubt I would have been able to afford the scroll without this damage, since many of the ones I like on eBay go for good sums.

Things don't become less attractive to me just because they're flawed, and there's nothing about this scroll I don't like. I love the woman and her silky garment, I love the red obi or sash thrown over the rack, and I love the mischievous cat.

Not only do I have a few kimonos hanging up on the walls of my house and my office, I also seem to have a number of risqué bad kitty images.  Here's a French postcard that features a woman in a corset doting on a striped tabby:
